Stripe it your way....
From Left to Right- Jil Sander, Fendi, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Louise Gray, Junya Watanabe
Stripes are on there way back in, but not just your average style. We all know that socialites such as Edie Sedgwick and Brigitte Bardot loved a bit of ‘stripe’ in there lives, do too the designers of the 2011 runway collections having reinvented the trend. We have seen the stripe come back to life in many different styles , so many that anyone can master the trend. Skinny stripes, bold, vertical, diagonal, horizontal, mega-thick and bright show-stopping stripes, which do you prefer? Don’t think for a second that stripes are restricted to one garment of clothing either! We have seen designers embrace the French Riviera trend on skirts, shirts, pants, dresses, top-handle bags, wedges, tees and wide brimmed sun- hats. There were mismatched colours like orange and bold green and clashing striped designs, mixed with prints such as animal and floral, accompanied by light fabrics and the latest accessories. Of course if mixing your stripes with a vertical watermelon pink and black horizontal thick striped shirt, along with black and royal blue vertical striped trousers is too much for you to handle, the traditional style of plain black ,white and navy striped theme will persist, as Coco Chanel brought to life nearly a century ago!
