Urban Society Article

Recently, I was contacted by Sydney’s go-to online lifestyle destination; Urban Society, in order to write a column about my experience with previous fashion weeks, seeming as though Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia is just around the corner. Their website is a hub of.....well all things really! They keep Sydney-siders and those holidaying here in the loop with their calendar of up and coming events, top food destinations, not to be missed social outings and all things fashion. Along with my short article that was published online and in their newsletter yesterday, they included a lovely and unexpected blurb of their perception of allaboutedie and I. Below, I have included the write up that I presented to the delightful Urban Society team.

Fashion week is a week where media, photographers, celebrities and creative individuals that all share that one collective interest emerge together. In the past, I have travelled to New York and London to observe the wearable art flourish the runways and have been transfixed with the eccentric street style, where the unwritten law seems to be ‘anything goes’. Street photographers snap away as show-goers exhibiting outfits bursting with individuality go to and from venues. Sky high tall models zip to their next location, sporting that breezy ‘model off duty’ look. Paparazzi wait anxiously in order to capture that one off celeb sighting. The hub is packed with journo's rapidly typing on their laptops to pitch their next scoop and industry crowds gather ready to evaluate and appreciate their next show. Having that said, there is something rewarding about being on your own stomping ground and observing our very own emerging and established designers talent revealing their collections to the world. Next month, the fashion pack will flock to Sydney to attend our very own Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. No matter what country you are in, Fashion week is indeed a week of pure madness; where you sleep less, party more, have a ridiculous amount of caffeine pulsing through your body and where that old saying ‘comfort is the key’ does not exist..... I love every minute of it.
