One of the hottest Jewellery labels going around at the moment has to be the Australian label, Mezi, as their designs add the perfect finishing touch to any outfit. If you haven't heard about it or checked out their pieces, get onto it ASAP! Developed in 2005 by sisters, Adva Punin and Tai Manning, Mezi jewels have been seen on plenty of big name Australian celebs, such as; Jess Hart, Jennifer Hawkins, Emma Booth, Jess McNamee and Erica Heynatz... (Just to name a few!) Last Thursday the talented duo collaborated with fashion label, We Are Handsome and designed bold statement pieces for their runway show.
See below my interview with the lovely girls.
What was your inspiration behind your collection? The collection is inspired by bold colour reflecting the everyday living of modern Morocco with a bohemian glamour point of view. The Moroccan sky, continuous desert sand and sunset across the land are represented through turquoise, coral and neon yellow.
How long have you been working on this collection for? We started working on the collection in February 2012.
What's your demographic? Mezi’s main audience is 25yrs + women however we do reach out to a younger demographic of 18-25yrs.
Tell me about yourselves? We are two sisters from an Egyptian and Moroccan heritage which is where a lot of our inspiration stems from but with a much more modern take and twist. We like to incorporate our two styles together to create statement pieces for the everyday girl.
In 3 words describe your collection Statement, accessible, glam.
How long have you been designing jewelry for? The Mezi label was established 7yrs ago.
What made you start to design jewelry? We wanted to create beautiful pieces of jewellery that didn’t compromise on quality or design.
What trends are you most excited about in the up and coming S/S 2012? It’s got to be the bold and beautiful colours filtering through the season
If you could dress anyone in the world in your pieces who would it be and why? We would love to do a collection for Lauren Hutton
What has been a highlight in your career so far? Collaborating with Australian designers and the little black dress with Margarita Missoni, she was so lovely and very inspirational.
