What an Incredible evening I just had! I had the absolute honour of being invited to the label Gossip Couture's runway show. Set in a hip, city warehouse, some of Sydney's fashion's finest gathered to be blown away by designer Mauricio's debut collection. It was a stunning show, with very unique and tran-seasonal pieces. Models took to the runway sporting limited edition colourful floral prints; fierce, sharp shouldered cropped jackets, floor length maxi dresses (personal favourite the burnt orange maxi with embroidered swarovski crystals around the neck and cut out back line), A freshwater pearl embroidered cape, Bolero jackets, high-waisted culottes and cocktail dresses. I had the pleasure of meeting the creative designer Mauricio who said his love for the 60's and 70's inspired his collection, as well as his Latin American background. There sure was a large 70's feel to the collection; with incredible over sized frizzy hair, high-waisted flared pants, burnt orange colours, ballooned sleeved shirting, lots of colour and of course the 70's style music that everyone was bopping away too. I had the pleasure of meeting Robert Rosen who photographs fashion events all around the world and also photographs for VOGUE Australia's social pages. The after party was at the Fringe Bar in Paddington, where I got to catch up with the amazing makeup artist Martin Bray (seriously if you haven't looked up his fashion work; do so now! He is absolutely fantastic. I could not speak higher of him) and I also met the influential editor of CREAM magazine (one of my favourites) Antonino Tati.
The Gossip Couture runway show was quirky and fun; just like Mauricio himself. Mauricio was so inspiring to meet and was absolutely lovely. He did also inform me that he is an amazing cook; so he did insist that he cook me lunch one day soon! I will have to take him up on that offer!
Everyone should defiantly check out Gossip Couture....'There's a new label label in town. Spread the word...'
xx
