'motivate your stride'

Okay, so you could say that I am on a bit of a roller coaster ride of motivation of late. It may have something to do with the fact that I am currently reading Kelly Cutrone's sort after novel, 'If you have to cry go outside, and other stuff your mother never told you,' which refers to the hard yards she endeavoured to be the successful fashion business woman she is today; Or it may be the fact that my dear friend dropped me off a garbage bag full of fashion editorial mags (all the best of course; Vogue Italia. British Vogue. Etc) 150 of them to be precise. Whatever it is; I am throwing my hands up in the air and enjoying the ride. I feel as though when you are full of ambition you tend to source inspiration in everyday things. You find yourself looking at situations differently. Today at work the 80's classic, 'break my stride' came on and besides the fact that it took me to a time where my cousins and I scavenged through dress up boxes dancing around to the uplifting beat, it also acted as a food source for my motivation. The other night I found myself extremely frustrated as I was 'supposably' suffering from a 'writers block.' It's not that I couldn't put the words to paper; it was that the actual words just weren't coming, full stop! If we put aside the reality that I was running off 4 hours of sleep, it’s because I was simply just thinking too hard. When you just stop and let yourself breathe; or take time out and watch the everyday takings pass you by; you will be amazed at the influences you will see. Don't get me wrong, I haven't figured out what it is I want to do with my life; (I loathe the question; 'So where is what you are doing going to get you? Mostly asked by nannas) It’s the fact that I am chasing all the balls in my (chosen) court (of fashion) that will lead me and hopefully bring me to the point of saying "This is it.... This is what I want' Sure I might not be doing things the 'textbook way' but where’s the fun in having a life plan anyway, when we are constantly changing, meeting new talented individuals and surrounding ourselves with new inspirations) Just like the song says, "...ain't nothing gunna break my stride. Ain't nothing gunna hold me down...oh no, I've gotta keep on moving...."

Make sure you do things your way. Follow your dreams and do not let anyone's disbelief in  you stop you.....if anything let it prompt you to succeed.
